Interest

My main interest include general medicine, Chinese medicine, natural aesthetics, and pain management. My favorite naturopathic modalities are botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, and nutrition. Specifically I love the principles of Nature Cure. I also have an interest in learning more about energy medicine like pranic healing, craniosacral, and gemstone therapy. I have additional training in injection therapy, ozone, and bioidentical hormone replacement.

Herbal Medicine

The use of plants as medicine

My experience with herbal medicine begins when I was a teenager growing and selling herbs at farmers market. I have years of experience with gardening and care taking of medicinal plants. At the end of my first year at SCNM I attended an herbal medicine class in the Rocky mountains and learned about wild crafting and folk uses of many plants.  I have volunteered my time and leadership as a  board member of the Botanical Medicine Club at SCNM, and American Herbalist Guild Arizona Chapter. In March of 2019 I attended an herbal medicine Mission trip with Wellness Warrior to Puerto Rico and service around 100 patients with herbal medicine. I continue to pursue my love of herbal medicine by taking classes and am currently working on becoming a registered herbalist through the American Herbalist Guild.

Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medicine

Traditional forms of healing like acupuncture have been used for thousands of years and can be used for a multitude of different conditions from pain to infertility to aesthetics. In school we begin learning about acupuncture in our 2nd year. In my third year I started getting more hands on experience with this amazing tool for healing. As a student I worked on several clinical shifts that use acupuncture as their main modality of treatment. I have hundreds of hours of hands on experience including using different methods like TAN Protocol as well as cupping and Gua Sha. This has become such a passion for me that I have decided to further my education and am currently working on my doctorate in acupuncture at PIHMA.

Energy Medicine

Vibrational healing

Though I am not certified an any specific modality of energy medicine I have a huge interest in this form of healing and have taken multiple workshops and classes. In school we learn about homeopathy as a form of vibration healing and this was one of my first introductions to energy medicine. I am trained in medical hypnosis and love incorporating aspect of suggestion to improve my patients experience and results. While in school I also took a selective class  on Flower Essences. Since then I personally make my own flower medicine and have found that it has made a huge difference in my life. Meditation and gem stones are also a part of my daily life because of what I have learned about energy medicine.

Nutrition

Food as medicine

One differentiating factor between MD's and ND's is the amount of nutrition training we get in naturopathic medicine. We have years of training in how to use food as a form of medicine. We learn more then just what vitamins are and what conditions happen in vitamin deficiencies. We learn different diets and how to apply these diets to different medical conditions, and we learn how to use supplements in a therapeutic and preventative way. I spend a lot of time working with my patients on their diet and making life style changes to reach their goals. Nutrition is a staple to health and one of the key principals of naturopathic medicine.
